25th AIn today's Gospel reading Matthew 20:1-16, the parable of the workers in the vineyard appears to be an offense to common sense. Those who work a longer day should to be paid more than those who work just an hour or two.

All the workers in the vineyard receive the same wage. The owner of the vineyard agrees to pay his day laborer’s a just wage. The workers agree to that just wage and that's what he gives them. But like most of the parables it has a twist. The landowner goes beyond justice and shows generosity. He gives just days wage to all the workers even those who are working just a short time at the end of the day. And that angers the day-long workers. Justice is all they can see. Their standard is based on earning. If you work more you get more.

The arrangements for Marisa Rincon, daughter of Victor and Dee Rincon, who died on, February 21, 2017, are as follows:Wake at Tuttle Funeral Home, Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 3 to 7pm.Funeral Mass at Resurrection Parish on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11 am. Burial is at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, on Pleasant Hill Road, in Chester, following the Mass. The partial obituary of arrangements is on Tuttle’s website – tuttlefh.com.  We keep the family in our prayers and offer support as we can.
